Bhutan royals enjoy the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition

On Wednesday April 1st, The Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition was visited by several members of the Bhutanese royal family, including King Jigme and Queen Jetsun Pema. The festival was inaugurated by the Royal Grandmother.

The festival, initiated by the King to mark his father, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s 60th birthday this year, and from now on, the festival will be held annually. It seeks to inspire appreciation of beautiful spaces, to foster vitality to the communities and to encourage entrepreneurship across the nation.

Besides a vibrant display of incredible gardens and artistic flower arrangements, the festival also displays beautiful Bhutanese architecture. Each of the neatly arranged gardens were located on the grounds of the Ugyen Pelri Palace in Paro, and though the spring sun was hiding behind clouds, many besides the royal family came to see the sea of flowers, including many students and tourists.
